VIKING ROPED OR TWIST WEDDING RING C.866-1067 AD, SIZE 9-9 ½
Cambridgeshire, England. Size 9-9 ½. Rare variation with double twist motif 2/3 its circumference. Comprised of a twisted or roped segment which is itself twisted around the full section of the ring with the underside/inside fully detailed as well. The spiral or helix was a favorite Viking form. This is a helix made of a helix. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored. Vikings exchanged wedding rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword.
