VIKING/SCANDINAVIAN HEART PENDANT C. 1100-1300 AD
11th-13th century, the period of conversion to Christianity. Old traditions, beliefs, and superstitions were blended with Christianity during the conversion of Vikings to Christianity. This heart pendant, over 3/4" in height plus the loop is the Christian version of the traditional Viking heart. It is the fundamental heart form made of three foliate elements (the Viking trefoil), preserving the cusp. It is flat with beveled edges. It is professionally refurbished with the pure silver surface restored, on a Sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Notably, the conversion of Vikings came about at the time of the Crusades and Viking warriors fought valiantly and successfully in the First Crusade.
