SCANDINAVIAN HEART PENDANT NECKLACE, 11TH-12TH CENTURY AD

$215.00 Sale

The period of conversion to Christianity for Vikings. A remnant of the old pagan mythology in the form of an anatomically accurate heart, with nubs at the sixth points. A curious throwback to Viking pagan religion, elements of which were blended with Christianity. Such “transitional” elements were common and persist even today in the form of superstitions and belief in the occult. The elongated heart form is unmistakably Viking, in the early natural form, with raised edge and quartered nubs, but somewhat abstracted to obscure its pagan roots. Slightly under 5/8” (0.61”) height plus the suspension loop. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored, on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
