Gilt bronze. Just under 1" height plus the ring. Large domed form, the back recessed. Romans were very dependent on the sea and used sea motifs, real and mythical extensively in their art and decoration. Alternatively, it is suggested in many references that these were worn by prostitutes who practiced openly in ancient Rome. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certification of authenticity.
