Elegant elongated barrel shape with thickened edges. The center has worn through during its working life. Originally part of a large and elaborate necklace or pectoral. Originally gilt with the gold now restored. a little over 3/4" in length. Beads were valued more than gold to Vikings and they produced them as well as pillaged and ransomed for them. In the 10th century, Vikings went to Indonesia specifically to procure a ransom for their legendary miniature beads. A fine centerpiece for modern jewelry creation.
