Danelaw England. Gilt bronze. Over 7/8” (0.91”) total height. Iconic heart form, with nubs at the quarter points describing a saltire. The field has an inscribed floral motif, a variant of the popular trefoil. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain for modern wear.
