Found in Ireland, England (Scotland) and Western Europe. Bronze, over 7/8” height, delicately cast with integral suspension loop and of particularly flamboyant broad form. Generally acknowledged as exchange objects (money) these frequently, are encountered with pieces chipped out. This example is chipped on the edge and top. If valued as money and a sign of prosperity, it follows that the fragments were used votively as sacrifice.
