Just over 3/4” width. Broad heart with rolled edge, bottom nub and raised central heart of naturalistic (uncusped) form. A heart within a heart!  Surface quite worn from use and burial. Made by the open face mold process. The foliate trefoil was a very popular motif for Viking hearts. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, attributes of the warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored for contemporary wear on an 18” modern Sterling silver neck chain.
