These globular pendants were popular among common women in ancient Rome. Some have been described as prostitutes’ pendants and that view is widely published on the internet. This example is 9.2mm, under 3/8” (0.35”) diameter spherical, made in two halves and hollow. It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. It is suspended on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain for modern wear and is gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
