Size 7 1/2. Broad width band, 3.8mm, with a rounded face and cast with a central core which was laboriously removed to finish the ring for wear. This example has never been finished. The core was removed but the inside not smoothed or polished. In fact, the tool marks for the removal are completely preserved! Mottled brown patina with encrustation from burial. Vikings were expert metallurgists. The use of pure copper is rare and suggests a supernatural significance as alloys were much more durable. See the reference image which shows the process. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom 's sword.
