These small pendants were popular among common women in ancient Rome. Some have been described as prostitute’s pendants and that view is widely published on the internet. This example is faceted per shape with a small pinwheel at the bottom, probably a reference to the Wheel of Fortune.
It is 15.5mm, over 1/2" (0.61”) total height. It has been professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. It is suspended on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain for modern wear and is a jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
