Bronze, 3/4” height, delicately cast with integral suspension loop. Generally acknowledged as exchange objects (money) these frequently, as here, are encountered with pieces chipped out. Specifically not cracks, these voids indicate deliberate removal of small portions of the bell. If values as money, it follows that the fragments were used votively as sacrifice. Found in Ireland, England (Scotland) and Western Europe. This example with a chip removed from the edge and another between the loop ends. Professionally refurbished with silver overlay on modern Sterling silver neck chain.
