Found in Ireland, England (Scotland) and Western Europe. Bronze, over 7/8” (0.88”) height, delicately cast with integral suspension loop and of particularly flamboyant broad form. Generally acknowledged as exchange objects (money) these frequently are encountered with pieces chipped out. This example with a single piece chipped out. If valued as money and a sign of prosperity, it follows that the fragments were used votively as sacrifice. Professionally refurbished with silver surface overlay on an 18” modern Sterling silver mounted polished leather neck cord. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
