Period of the universal Christian conversion and the early Crusades. Size 9 1/4 with narrow (1.8mm) band flared shoulders. Lenticular bezel cut with a series of (worn) marks. Used to impress the signature of the owner in wax or clay. Language differences and illiteracy were barriers to trade. Signets allowed for universal verification of a signature facilitating trade at distance. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Good wearable size.
