EUROPEAN NOBLE WOMAN'S PENDANT, C.1250-1400
English or French (Norman). Silvered bronze, of broad shield-shape enclosing a stylized heart, a recognition of the earlier Viking form which was still used after conversion to Christianity. An armorial device in abbreviated form (as opposed to a full coat of arms) as used on shields, horse bards, etc, by nobles and royalty. Under 3/4" total height. Made by the open mold casting process. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored on a Sterling silver neck chain. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
