EUROPEAN WOMAN’S PENDANT NECKLACE C.1250-1450
Silvered bronze, over 1/2” width. Of diamond form with four depressed circles. This form is thought to represent the targets at which knights rode in field events like the Landshuter Hochzeit. A series of targets were hung from iron loops and competing knights would ride with lances, attempting to dislodge as many shields as possible. This pendant may be a gift from such a knight to his lady. Professionally refurbished with the silver surface restored and suspended from a modern Sterling silver neck chain. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
