Medieval Europe, The Dark ages. Gilt bronze, over 1 ½’ (1.58”) total height. Early representation with the cross beam below center. Relief figure of Christ in the Orans position with garment fully detailed. No charges as with early examples. The reverse with a similar larger figure in lower relief. The two representations obviously intended to be different and likely of different figures, Christ of course and probably Peter who was crucified upside down possible explaining the upside down configuration of the cross. Surface textured from burial and restored with 24karat gold on an 18” gilt neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
