GOOD VIKING HEART PENDANT C.850-1050 AD.
Well over 1/2" height (0.57") plus the loop. Heart form with broad rounded edges forming the slightly cusped top. The field with a raised trefoil. The vertical extending through the bottom is a nub and probably a reference to the cross which was frequently referenced by Pagan Vikings. Foliate designs were favored by Vikings and incorporated into about half of the heart pendants. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, and integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold restored on an 18” modern gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
