7th-10th century AD. Gilt bronze, just over 1 5/8” total height. Broad slightly flared beams, the cross beam centered. Hand chiseled low relief Corpus Christi of somewhat stylized form mostly obscured by degradation from burial. Reverse recessed for the inclusion of a holy relic. The silver surface restored, on an 18” sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
