10th-15th century AD. Gilt bronze with 2.9 band flaring to the banded shoulders and raised scalloped edge with raised circular bezel engraved with a cross in circular border. Crescents in the cross inner angles. See Ancient Rings, Polio p.109 for another example, lacking the central cross motif. This example, clearly Christian, blends the pagan crescent symbols as was often done during the conversion period, thus probably dating this example to the earlier part of the period. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword.
