RARE VIKING WEDDING RING 866-1067 AD, SIZE 11 3/4
Danelaw England. 9th-11th century. Bronze, with a rounded face and of 5.7mm width. Made with a central core to distribute the molten metal and heat. The core was then laboriously removed by hand with the remnants still visible. Wonderful primitive character. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. See the reference image which shows the process. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
