2nd-6th Century AD. Gilt bronze, size about 1/2 which suggests a child of six months age or less. Slightly rounded face band, 1.3mm width flaring to the shoulders. Oval bezel with parallel zigzag lines, reflective of Pagan origins mixed with Christianity. The custom of baptizing infants originated in the second century with the evolution of the concept of Original Sin. Rings for infants were surely a luxury reserved for the noble class. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored and gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
