Regular price $285.00 Sale

Original belt mount from a Roman Legionary’s sword belt, C.300-400AD. See Forum Ancient Coins for virtually identical examples and detailed information. While decorative, these mounts were, capable of protectively absorbing the impact of a sword blow. Thus, they are in fact, a form of Roman armor. This example is bronze over 1 1/2” (1.52”) height with the 24karat gold surface restored and mounted on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
