Gilt bronze. Good example of a well-known type worn by women of the middle class. Bronze tapered from about 3/8” (9.1mm) width middle to the tips which are hand curled terminals. The face hand-decorated in random punchwork probably representing animal hide. Simply crafted and the work of small cottage industries. This example of 2 1/4” inner dimension. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
