Early 20th century. Die struck in fine detail with portrait of the monk above his name and surrounded by a prayer. The reverse with starburst surrounded by inscriptions. These were made to honor specific monks who led exemplary lives and are deemed to have spiritual powers, similar to Christian saints and holy medals. Crisply detailed with minor degradation from decades of wear, and heavily gold overlaid.
