Gilt bronze, over 2 1/4” (2.30”) inside dimension C form, made by the lost wax technique as a spiral or helix, full length. The spiral was a favorite Viking form and it was used in everything from jewelry to iron work. It is likely that the spiral had spiritual significance. This bracelet would have been worn by a man or woman possibly to protect against evil. Degraded from burial with a little loss and surface texture, but sound and quite smooth. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
