VIKING HEART NECKLACE, 10th-11th C. AD
Silvered bronze. Just under 5/8" width. Elegant, broad form of low domed section with slight medial ridge and delineated bottom point. Made by the open face mold technique. The surface lightly textured from burial. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored and on Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear.
