Charm size, just under 1/2” (0.48”) height plus the loop. Gilt bronze. The Viking heart in its fully developed form with broad rounded border enclosing a smaller centered trefoil. Substantial with high relief decoration, produced by the open face mold technique. The heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the Viking warrior. It is abundantly referenced in Viking literature. Surface textured from burial.
