Rare variation, related to the coil rings which were very popular with Vikings. This example is a broad band, 6.5mm width which is opened on the bottom. It tapers from the middle to the rounded ends. The surface is textured from burial and restored in pure silver. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom's sword. See the reference image which shows the process.
