VIKING WEDDING RING, 850-1050 AD, SIZE 7 3/4
Bronze, size 7 3/4. 3.9mm width band with low rounded face. Made with a solid disk center to distribute the molten metal in the mold. The disk laboriously removed after the casting cooled with remnants inside the ring. Mottled patina with some green surface oxidation. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword.
