The period of conversion to Christianity for Vikings. A remnant of the old pagan mythology in the form of a broad cusped heart with raised border. The stippled field is decorated with three foliate members, adapted from the Viking trefoil. A curious throwback to Viking pagan religion, elements of which were blended with Christianity. Such “transitional” elements were common and persist even today in the form of superstitions and belief in the occult. The form is unmistakably Viking, with the surround identical to earlier examples and the heart form found in Viking period jewelry as well. Slightly under 5/8” (0.62”) height plus the suspension loop. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored, on an 18” gilt silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
