10th-11th century AD. Gilt bronze, size 7 3/4, Swelled to the front, 3.9mm-4.6mm width, with low rounded face. The front engraved with a saltire flanked by half crescents. Dating to the period of conversion to Christianity. Surface textured from burial. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword.
