Gilt bronze, about 1 1/2" height. A floraform representation of the cross. The Reconquista began with the fall of Granada in 1492 and resulted in the conversion to Christianity of the Moors who Islamic rule was deposed. There was a surge in Christian pride and pendants such as this expressed the joy of the change. It is a provincial example, probably worn by a common woman in a small village. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold restored for contemporary wear on a modern gilt Sterling silver neck chain. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
