About 1 3/8" height. Gilt bronze, shaped as a stylized duck's foot with chevron engraving to the end and transverse banding to the middle. A late variation during the period of Christian conversion, clandestinely embodying the earlier pagan symbol. A burial at Viden, Denmark contained the body of a woman of wealth and status buried with henbane seeds, which have hallucinogenic properties, and a wand as well as other objects. From these, it was concluded that she was a seeress or sorceress. The grave contained a necklace hung with three duck feet pendants very similar to this.  Professionally refurbished with silver overlay and mounted on an 18” modern gilt sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with certification of authenticity.
