Gilt bronze, oval form of roped or twisted section with the ends in delicate vertically scrolled cylinders. Just over 11/4” width. Cross pin intact. Worn in numbers on the leather war jerkin, at an ounce each, a few pounds could be added providing significant protection against sword blows. See current Public Broadcasting for Vikings wearing a protective brooch. The 24karat gold surface was renewed. Mounted with a modern gilt Sterling silver 18” neck chain for modern wear.
