FINE VIKING HEART PENDANT, 10TH-11TH CENTURY AD
This small Viking heart is elegant in its simplicity. For Vikings, the heart stood for bravery, fortitude, loyalty, integrity, all attributes of the warrior. It is said that Hrungnir, with whom Thor dueled (assisted by a sorceress), had a heart of stone. Here, it is represented in slightly ridged, rounded section without the decorative elements often employed. It is the heart in its purest form reemphasizing its fundamental relationship to Vikings. It was made by the lost wax technique and is professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored on a gilt Sterling silver neck chain for contemporary wear. Jewelry gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
